Goddess Mahalakshmi is the clan goddess (Kuldevi) of royal Koli family of Jawhar and every year, Mahalaxmi is worshipped in this temple with the first crop from the field. A tribal fair is held here on the day of Pitru Maavasya. All the farmers here worship the Goddess by offering various types of vegetables and fruits including paddy, millet, cucumber, cabbage grown in their fields. They believe that offering the crop to the Goddess brings peace and happiness in their homes and blessings in the yield. There is a tradition of offering a flag to the Goddess here on Chaitra Navratri. Only the flag of the present Koli king of Mukne family of Jawhar is offered at the Goddess' temple. That flag is offered by the priest of Waghadi village, Narayan Satvi who is the Malhar Koli by caste.
