Jhala Koli

The Jhala Koli (also spelled as Zala Koli and Jala Koli) is a clan (Gotra, Kutumb) of the Koli caste found in the Indian state of Gujarat and Union Territory of Daman and Diu and nearby areas. Jhala clan mostly found in the Chunvalia Kolis of Gujarat and have marital relationship with poor Rajputs of Gujarat.

During the reign of Koli organisation Gujarat Kshatriya Sabha, Jhala Kolis who were rich and prosperous married with poor Rajput girls of Gujarat. Most of the Jhala Kolis who were jagirdars, married with Rajput girls but when Koli caste recieved the reservation under Other Backward Class (OBC) certification, Jhala Koli jagirdars became Rajput and denied the indentity as Koli. Jhala Kolis who married in Rajput family became Jhala Rajput because Kolis got the reservation as a Backward caste and Rajputs were not placed in reservation category.
